What are the most expensive comics in history? Well, it turns out that some of them can be quite expensive. For example, there is a copy of Action Comics #1 (CGC 8-5) that sold for $3 million in 2014 and another Captain America comic number 1 CGC 9 4th printing that went up for auction last year when it hit just under $3 million! Over a million classified trading cards
CGC Trading Cards recently reached a major milestone. They certified 1 million trading cards in just 18 months! This is impressive considering they were only created less than two years ago, and shows how quickly collectors/dealers have adopted these services for authentication and expert rating on TCG (collectible card games).
CGC Trading Cards has certified many amazing cards since its launch in July 2020. These include a Test Print Blastoise which was created for Wizards of the Coast (WotC) to prepare English Pokémon before release and carried out $360,000 at an auction last January – a record price ever paid on a single card!
In March 2022, a CGC-certified Magic: The Gathering Black Lotus Rare Alpha Edition was sold for $52,800. The card rating is 4 + 5 = 9 with sub-ratings of 8 (centering), 6 (surface), and 5 (corners and edges).
Ranking of concert posters with CGC
One of the most iconic concert posters in history, a CGC-certified Grateful Dead poster of their show at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco on September 16-17, 1966 sold for $137,500. The high prices are proof that this collectibles market is growing exponentially.
CGC Comics Ranking for Magazines
The CGC certification service has certified magazines including Sports Illustrated. An October 1981 edition featuring Wayne Gretzky and rated 9.4 sold for $30,000 at a recent sale!
