Tabith Awal injured as BNP program attacked in Banani
BNP executive committee member and former DNCC mayoral candidate Tabith Awal was seriously injured in an attack on a BNP program in Banani, capital, today (September 17, 2022).
Tabith Awal was taken to United Hospital at Gulshan-2 in Dhaka for treatment, BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed to the Daily Star.
Shairul Kabir Khan said a large number of leaders and activists took part in a program with sidewalk candles on one side of Kamal Ataturk Avenue in Banani, organized by the BNP’s Dhaka Metropolitan North unit.
BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal said: “Chhatra League and Jubo League were marching across the road before our program started. However, when the speech of the main guest of the program, Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, was almost in the final stage, our leaders and activists were attacked from the other side.
“Many leaders and activists, including women, were injured in the attack. Tabith Awal was one of them. More details can be given later,” he said, adding : “It does not occur to me how such a peaceful program can be attacked. .”
